If you are feeling unwell (eg stomach upsets or cold/flu symptoms) and/or have a temperature then massage is not advised  until your temperature has returned to normal and you feel better. Your body is working to deal with an imbalance and therapy in these circumstances will interfere with the bodies natural healing abilities and may make you feel worse. With stomach upsets I advise 48 hours to recover.
I use Songbird ® massage wax or fascial release wax (which are nut free and vegan) for massage which is suitable for sensitive skin; all laundry products are non-biological but If you have any known sensitivities to oils, creams, cleansers, lotion wipes or laundry products please let me know.
Before your first visit I will send a short questionnaire to complete and return. This to gather information about your general health, medical history, diet & lifestyle, any pre existing conditions and what you hope to achieve from the sessions. This information ensures that you receive the most appropriate tailored therapies and we can address any conditions that may make therapies contra indicated or require modifications
When we first meet (and at subsequent sessions) I’ll ask about any specific areas of concern or discomfort, explain the process and answer any questions you may have.
There is a private area to undress to your level of comfort** and lie face down on the massage table. You will be properly draped with a sheet and towel for privacy (and warmth) and I will then proceed with the massage, taking into account your preferences and any areas of focus you have discussed. After working on your back and back of legs I’ll ask you to turn onto your back for me to finish work on you legs and arms. At the end of the massage you can lie for a few minutes before having a drink of water and getting dressed again.

Following a session it is important to drink plenty of water (or non caffeinated liquids) to stay hydrated; try and have an easy day.

** sports shorts or underwear

Massage therapy can be very effective in managing chronic pain. However, it’s important to discuss your specific condition with your therapist to determine the best approach for your needs.

The frequency of massage therapy sessions depends on your personal needs and goals. For general relaxation, once a month may be sufficient. For managing muscle tension, or chronic pain, weekly or twice monthly sessions might be more appropriate
